![]() | As an editorial designer my goal is to create pages that engage the reader and make the essence of an article visible. I have been a designer for nearly 20 years, the last 12 as the design principal at a publication. I have also redesigned or helped launch more than 12 magazines and newspapers, some of these on a commercial basis and some pro-bono for causes that interest me. I am currently an assistant professor at George Mason University and design director of Governing, a magazine about national trends in local government. I write regularly on design and social issues for a number of publications including Print Magazine, The Design Journal, Voice: The AIGA Journal of Design, and The Washington City Paper. My design and art direction has been recognized more than 50 times for excellence.
